Sailing Away

In 2016, I had the chance to do so many cool things that I never thought I’d be able to do. Some things, like sailing, I hadn’t thought about doing at all. Once I had the chance though, I realized how much FUN it was.

Growing up, I was pretty lucky to have friends and family that had fishing boats, ski boats, or even jet skis. I remember visiting lakes and the Gulf during the summer. We’d all have a blast out on the water, getting out of the Texas heat. I never remember people sailing, maybe the Gulf isn’t meant for sailing? I have no idea. I always just associated it with rich people in Sperrys.

We went sailing a couple times in San Diego with Spencer’s coworkers. Our friend, Jeff, knows how to sail and taught us the ropes (or should I say lines)! It was so much fun learning how to tack, jibe and to duck when the boom moves. We would sail around San Diego, past the aircraft carriers and everyone would laugh at their friends who had to work on the ship that day! (Lol.) We’d usually stop in Glorietta Bay for lunch and a dip in the water.

Can’t wait until we’re in San Diego again. Sailing around and drinking mimosas!

Look how tan we were !!!
