Our lil’ love story started the fall of our junior year of high school. Spencer first asked me out sometime during Christmas break in 2009. I said no. I knew he was special and I wanted to introduce him to my family before I said yes. Thank goodness he didn’t give up after I said no! He asked me out again January 28, 2010 after school by the lockers. This time I said yes!

Flash forward to November 6, 2017, when I got to say yes again! I have been waiting for Spencer to propose to me for years now, but we spoke more seriously about it the last few months. For those of you who don’t know, Spencer’s job is taking us to Japan next year from January to May. We wanted to be engaged before we left. So for months now, I’ve been nervously making sure my nails are done and sending him pictures of rings I liked. He made me wait. I’m sure he was thinking something like “It’s been 8 years, what’s a few more weeks.”

I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. Especially when Spencer asked me if I wanted to go watch the sunrise with him. I don’t think Spencer has ever asked me to watch the sunrise or set. Those are always my kind of ideas. I had knots in my stomach the entire weekend. I was so anxious. I even made my friend anxious! I tossed and turned sleeping the night before. Silly me! I was actually nervous that I wasn’t going to cry when he asked.

We woke up early, hoping it would be a clear day. It was cloudy but at least it wasn’t raining! Spencer made sure our favorite band, Mumford and Sons, was playing on the radio. We drove to a state park near by and hiked to the perfect clearing to watch the sunrise. Despite the clouds, we could still see the mountains and the sunlight that shown off the sound was beautiful. It felt like I was sitting there forever waiting for him to ask.

When he got down on one knee, I could barely hear him asking me to marry him through my sobbing! I said YES and pulled him into a huge hug. I remember thinking “This is the most perfect moment.” Then I remembered that there was a ring in that box he was holding! Spencer got me the most perfect rose gold ring. It was everything I had ever dreamed of. He did so good, y’all!

Now how am I supposed to plan a wedding in Texas from Japan?? The excitement and stress is already so real!

Where it all went down.

I love this picture. Messy hair, ring out of shot, and tears streaming down my face!

If you’ve made it to the end of this post, I’ll let you in on a little secret. Spencer told me that even he had teared up when he asked! You can imagine my reaction to this.
