Being Tourists in San Diego

A couple weekends ago, Taylor came to visit us in San Diego! If you missed my last post, then you wouldn’t know we’re living in California for a while. While Taylor was here we tried to hit all the touristy places on trip advisor including Three Sisters Falls, La Jolla Cove, Point Loma, and The Midway.

Upon recommendation from my Aunt Chavela, we headed to La Jolla Cove. I cannot stress enough that YOU NEED TO GO HERE. The cove is pretty crowded in some places, but the views of the cliffs, crazy blue ocean, and the beaches are all too beautiful to pass up. And if that wasn’t enough, the cove is home to a massive amount of sea lions. As you can see from the photos below, they are everywhere.

Point Loma was next on our list. The National Park is home to the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Cabrillo National Monument, Tide Pools, and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. The park has an entry fee of $10 per car, but it’s worth it for all you get to see. Plus the pass lasts a week! Unfortunately we didn’t see any tide pools, but the rest of the park was gorgeous.

Tip: Check the tides before you go; the tide pools are closed during certain times of the day.

Lastly, we visited The Midway, a retired aircraft carrier. It was really cool to get a look at what Spencer sees on a daily basis at work. We spent a solid 2 hours walking around and didn’t see everything. So if you’re planning a visit, make sure you schedule a good hunk of your day around it. My favorite part was the flight deck with its amazing views of San Diego. There was even a great view of the ship Spencer works on.

These pictures are gorgeous, I'm so jealous! My dad's been there a couple of times on work trips but unfortunately it's never been in the school holidays so I haven't been able to go along with him!
